This is the story of a white woman who lived for fifteen years in Indonesia-living, not visiting- knowing the country and its people, from the highest and the lowest, and sharing their joys and their sorrows.

K'tut Tantri was looking for a land of peace and beauty, and found her paradise in Bali. Through the eyes of Prince Anak Agung Nura, seh feel in love with the people and its culture, and began what will become a lifelong friendship. When war shattered her languid life in the island of the gods, K'tut Tantri joined the prince in the resistance moevement, only to captured, tortured, imprisoned, and finally, near death, released.

Here is a story of one woman's adventures in a foreign land, packed with dangerous incidents and cloak and dagger affairs, but under this suffice lies a tale of sheer guts and determination, of love and devotion for a strange land and its freedom.
