With the ever growing interst in art related to Indonesia, Dutch art dealers Leo Haks and Guus Maris recognized the need for a guide to the foreign srtists who produceed such work. During three years of intensice research including nearly 3,000 artists: Haks and Maris Lexicon of Foreign Artists who Visualilzed Indonesia 1600 - 1950. This includes biographies for wach artist identified, lists their exhibitions, names the museums which hold their Indonesia works, and catalogues related literature. Never have so many illustrations of the art of this genre been collected together, and much of this material has not been published before. Over 800 illustrations, including 330 in full colour, depict various aspects of life and scenery in the arachipelago. A standard work on the subject, it is an invaluable guide for art dealers, auctioneers, cutators, art book and print collectors, andis a fascinating survey for all those interested in Indonesia.
